Boston Child Study Center LA is outraged by the murder of Philando Castile, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Elanor Bumpers, Adner Louima, and many other Black men and women. We absolutely condemn racism, violence, bigotry and complacency. We are committed to anti-racist practices, policies, and personal actions within BCSC’s professional and clinical scope as well as in each of our individual lives. We are committed to working diligently as individuals, clinicians and as a center to achieve racial, sexual, religious, and gender equality. We continue to remain committed to further our ability to improve mental health treatment, training and research equity. We will work diligently to continue learning and standing with people of color. BCSC also recognizes our own fallibility and privilege and welcomes any feedback from the community as we continue to grow and learn from our own mistakes, as we recognize that being an anti-racist institution requires continuous work, dialogue, action, and education.
Sadly, BIPOC make up 1-7% of mental health professionals in the US. BCSC is committed to changing this painful and embarrassing reality. The Boston Child Study Center Foundation will be offering full and partial academic scholarships to BIPOC pursuing graduate degrees in psychology and mental health starting this Winter. More details will be posted on our website in the near future.
