Our Mission

The Boston Child Study Center (BCSC) is a treatment, training and research center dedicated to improving the lives of children, adolescents, young adults, and families through innovative, evidence-based cognitive-behavioral treatments. Our faculty hold positions at BCSC as well as top hospitals and universities in the region. This diverse breadth of experience allows us to provide expert assessment, treatment, research and training.

Our team is dedicated to eliminating the many barriers to state-of-the-art assessments and treatments. On average, our patients report seeing upwards of 8-10 providers before reaching our doors. Families frequently struggle to find effective evidence-based mental health services and often see multiple providers without accessing the information, support, or relief they desperately need.

Research on anxiety, mood, and behavioral disorders has identified treatments that effectively reduce suffering; however, the lack of public information about evidence-based treatment and the lack of consistency in mental health services make it difficult for families to identify providers of effective treatment. As a result, many families feel increasingly defeated and hopeless about mental health services and the prospect of relief.

Our mission is to eliminate barriers to effective treatment by:

  1. Disseminating evidence-based assessment and treatment through comprehensive treatment teams at the individual, group, family, school, and community level.
  2. Increasing access to services through flexible and innovative delivery methods including in-vivo community exposure therapy, mobile coaching and internet-delivered interventions (telehealth), and psychoeducation and training for local community and school agencies.
