Joshua Masse

Dr. Joshua Masse is the Director of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Young Child Services at the Boston Child Study Center. He is one of twenty global trainers certified by PCIT International and served as the Chair of the Policy and Advocacy Task Force for PCIT-I. He is licensed as a clinical psychologist in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island and is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

He received his Ph.D. in clinical child psychology from West Virginia University where he worked under the mentorship of Dr. Cheryl McNeil, the co-author of the PCIT book series. Dr. Masse completed his pre-doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, the pediatric teaching hospital of Northwestern University.

Dr. Masse’s clinical and research interests lie broadly in examining the effectiveness of evidence-based treatments for young children with a wide range of challenging behaviors. In addition, his work focuses on the effectiveness of dissemination and implementation of evidence-based practices in community-based settings.

Dr. Masse has extensive experience with the consultation and training of evidence-based treatments and has trained over 200 licensed clinicians and clinical trainees in PCIT. He provides consultation to clinicians at medical centers and mental health agencies across the country. He presents research and invited talks at conferences and workshops locally and nationally.

Dr. Masse also has experience with Teacher-Child Interaction Training (TCIT) and oversaw the development, training, and implementation of a state-wide TCIT dissemination project. He is part of the International Child Adult Relationship Enhancement Collaborative (iCARE) focusing on the development and proliferation of the CARE model to a wide of range of professionals.
